Sunseeker Holiday Homes’ Production Director Jez Gale recently celebrated a milestone of 40 years working in the holiday home manufacturing industry.
A well-known face in Hull (the capital of caravans), Jez has an impressive career spanning major manufacturers before settling as a founding Director at Sunseeker Holiday Homes in 2019. Following in his father’s footsteps, Jez joined Cosalt as an apprentice and spent 27 years with the business, and he notes Peter Nevitt as important to his career.
When Cosalt sadly became no more, Jez spent time on the South Bank for two years in Motorhomes before joining Atlas Leisure Homes, where he spent six years working with Andy Innes and Dennis Ashton.
In 2019, he faced a big decision to leave Atlas Leisure Homes and join the Board of Directors at Sunseeker Holiday Homes. The new kids on the block had an impressive team behind them, including Dennis Ashton, Richard Moore, Silvano Geranio and Jez quotes “not regretting a single day”.
When asked about his time in the industry, Jez is proud of his enjoyable career and looking forward to getting out of bed every day. When asked why he added that it’s about the people and some of the characters previously mentioned all the way through to his team today; he said, “if you enjoy your work, it drives you on”.
As Production Director at Sunseeker Holiday Homes, driving on is part of everyday life. Jez has managed to triple production output in under three years growing from one factory through to 3.
We asked Jez what had changed in the 40 years in the industry, and he fondly reflected on the early days of gas lights in caravans and their humble beginnings as 9-10ft wide models. Today’s models come in larger sizes with modern appliances and even jacuzzi’s inside.
What hasn’t changed in 40 years is Jez’s passion and obvious popularity with the team he leads and of course his everyday enjoyment of life in the industry.
